Check your calendar

You can ask Alexa to add or read events on your calendar. You can also hear events from calendars shared with you (such as birthday reminders from Google Calendar).

To get started, link your Google or Outlook.com account in the Alexa app. If someone else is in your Amazon Household, they can also link their calendar to your Alexa device.

Then check your calendar by saying:

"When is my next event?"

"What’s on my calendar?"

"What’s on my calendar tomorrow at 9 p.m.?"

"What’s on my calendar Saturday?"

"Add an event to my calendar."

"Add "Buy groceries" to my calendar for Saturday, February 27 at 3 p.m."




Control media playback on Bluetooth devices

You can use your voice to control the audio from your smartphone or tablet over Bluetooth.

After you pair your mobile device with your Alexa device, open one of your favorite apps (for example, Spotify), press play, and then speak to your Alexa device.

Note: Alexa on Fire tablets does not currently support Bluetooth pairing by voice.

To get started, say:

"Pair my device."

"Pair Bluetooth."

Hands-free voice control commands

Note: If you request songs, albums, artists, or playlists, your Alexa device pauses playback on your mobile device and disconnects from it. Music from your Amazon Music library plays on your Alexa device instead. To play music over Bluetooth again, say, "Connect" and press play on your mobile device

Control smart home devices

Alexa can control smart home devices like thermostats, power outlets, control lights and switches.

Tip: To get started, go the Skills section of the Alexa app and enable the skill for your smart home device.

Just ask Alexa:

"Discover my devices."

"Dim the living room to 20%."

"Turn on the coffee maker."

"Set the fan to 75%."

You can set up or cancel alarms and timers with your voice. You can also set repeating alarms.

Note: To adjust the alarm and timer volume, go to Settings > select your device > Sounds > Alarm and Timer Volume. To learn how to pick a new sound for an alarm, go to Change the Volume or Sounds for Timers and Alarms.
